Some Growers News:

Calico Farms: We have a new gluten free cookie this week – maple sea salt. It’s the same as our regular version we’ve previously offered, made with cassava flour instead of heritage whole wheat & still organic & dairy-free. If you’re a maple lover, this one’s for you. Sold by the dozen.

Our jam thumbprint cookies are back this week too – a mixed dozen of raspberry & homemade peach jam – so you can enjoy the summer favors now. A buttery soft cookie with the delicious prize waiting in the middle. These are also vegan, organic & lovingly boxed up by the dozen.

A reminder with Valentine’s day approaching to check out our lavender vanilla & sinus relief shower steamers as well as our bagged house-blended teas – both make fantastic gifts.

If you’re doing any Valentine’s day baking, make sure our homemade vanilla extract is on hand too!

Safe & Sound Soap Company:
I started making my natural body care and laundry products for my family and friends, but now it’s available from our family to yours! Every one of my products are made from natural and non toxic ingredients. I also use high quality essential oils to scent all of my products.
Item of the Week: Car Air Fresheners! These hanging diffusers are perfect to freshen up your car! These have a longer lasting scent than store bought air fresheners, and you can control the amount of scent you want by simply tipping the bottle and letting the oils soak into the cap. These are non-toxic, vegan, and phthalate and paraben free, so you can have all the amazing smells without the chemicals. They make great gifts for loved ones as well!

NashPhilly: We are excited to announce a very special Valentine Day dinner available through the Stones River Market! We will be taking pre orders this week and the following, and pick up will be on Wednesday February 12th.

Menu is a follows and designed to feed two people:
Course 1 – mixed salad greens with fresh cucumbers, grape tomatoes, aged cheddar, bacon and candied pecans, served with honey mustart vinaigrette.
Course 2 – beef Wellington served with scallop potatoes and grilled broccolini.

Flying S Farms: Friendship Breads and Sour Dough bread available this week. and our tasty Chicken eggs.

RC Farm:
Great selection of Soups, Apples along with Apple Fried Pies and Apple Butter, Pickles, Potatoes, Prepared frozen meals as well as Breads and Fresh and Frozen Produce. Also several meat choices and Duck Eggs when available.

Quarter Spring Farm:
We are hip deep in kidding and lambing season here at Quarter Spring Farm. It’s a super cute, but super busy time of year. Lucky for us we stocked up our freezers with delicious pasture raised chicken, grass fed lamb and goat in advance. We have plenty of everything for the moment, and would love for you and your family to enjoy it this winter. Speaking of winter, the cold air usually means dry, chapped skin for lots of folks. Our superb goat milk soaps, shampoos, and lotions can help relieve the rigors of the cold weather. They will leave your skin feeling soft and smelling great. Give them a try if you haven’t already. Your skin will appreciate it.

How did you like getting snow for the second time in two weeks? Pike County Schools have been closed all week, and many businesses shortened their hours or did not open for a couple of days. All is well in our old house – no frozen pipes or HVAC breakdowns. Our teenage son Charlie was delighted that enough snow fell for him to play in. He’s been waiting for it his whole life!

I saw on the news this morning an interview with Tyler Harper, Georgia’s commissioner of agriculture. He said that the cold weather we have experienced lately should not affect peaches and blueberries crops this summer because it is so early in the season that trees have not yet developed buds.

My mother’s camellia, which had started blooming, was not so lucky. The blooms turned black and the buds not yet opened have fallen off. The tree is just not hardy enough to stand temperatures below 25 degrees! Oh well, there’s always next year to look forward to.

Thank you for supporting Georgia Grown. We’ll see you at the Market.

Thanks,
Beverly

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This farmers market allows you to preorder directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!

PICKUP TIME is Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m. in Clayton, Clarkesville, or Gainesville.

If you do not get an email ORDER CONFIRMATION after you finish the checkout process, your order may NOT be complete. Head back to the market page, and your order might still be there waiting for you to check out! If you have any trouble or questions at all, we are here to help; simply reply to this email.

Once you place an order, be on the lookout for the order reminder email on Wednesday with further pickup and payment notes.

Thanks for supporting local farmers!
